Nikka Taketsuru 17 Years Pure Malt Whisky

Nikka Taketsuru 17 Years Pure Malt: This is a blended malt named after Japanese whisky pioneer Masataka Taketsuru. The qualified chemist travelled to Scotland in 1918 to learn how to make Scotch whisky in practice and bring this knowledge to Japan. Years later, following the Scottish example, he founded his own distillery in northern Japan under the name “Nikka”. The climatic conditions on the island of Hokkaido were, in his view, even better than those in Scotland. He perfected his production methods and sold his first whisky in 1940.

Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt has received the “World’s Best Blended Malt Whisky” award several times over. It matured in former sherry casks and delights with its mature aromas of dried fruits, leather and tobacco.

Japanese whiskies have undergone enormous price increases over several years and are highly sought after by investors. Not least because whisky expert Jim Murray, among others, has given it excellent ratings.
