Bowmore Claret Bordeaux Wine Casked Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bowmore Claret – Bordeaux Wine Casked – a single malt matured in claret red wine casks to finish and bottled at cask strength. The combination of Bowmore’s rough, peaty conditions with the finesse of French Bordeaux casks results in a deep red colour as well as a unique fruity/smoky flavour. This limited edition whisky was matured for approximately 12 years and bottled in 1999.
The Bowmore distillery was founded as early as 1779 on the Scottish island of Islay and produces, among other things, the famous Black Bowmore – a particularly popular rarity among whiskies. The peaty environment together with storage in warehouses, some of which are surrounded by 1.5 metres of salt water at high tide, give Bowmore its very own characteristics.
